Another early symbol is that of the cross over the earth. We remember, in the words of the Apostles' Creed, that "our Lord ascended into heaven, sits on the right hand of God the Father Almighty, and that he will come to judge the living and the dead." The Lord Jesus Christ now rules all heaven and earth, and because he does, on the last day, will call a halt to history, and take his believers to heaven. "Even so, Lord Jesus, quickly come."
